Chad Phaire in MickeyDs for my camera & The Come Up
I am real hyped on Chad Phaire right now. The kid is blowing up in a serious way. I was given the opportunity to work with Chad on some shots as his interview on TheComeUpBMX.net was being put together. The goal for the shoot was color, which is a tough thing to find in Manhattan on a cold winter night. On the way to meet him I rode by a building in the east village that I have wanted to hit since its opening recently. It is heavily guarded, so we only got two hits in. Luckily, Chad has his barspins dialed … pulled both off perfectly. We were out quick – no joke, the guard is just outside the left of the frame, storming towards us.

I work near Union Square, and often find myself in the McDonalds on 15th St. and 6th Ave. This restaurant was recently remodeled leaving it looking like a trendy lounge. Idea #2, portraits in the posh McDonalds. I wanted the stripes specifically. The staff/management were pissed once they saw us hiking up the stairs to the dining area with our bikes. We told them that we wouldn’t fuck up their new paint job, but they kept an eye on us for sure. After about 20 minutes, Chad and I walked over with his bike and started shooting against the wall. The lighting was shitty, but the setup was gorgeous.
All in all, I am thrilled with the way things came out. Chad’s face is plastered all over The Come Up … and that makes me happy. Be sure to check Chad’s blog for new images and video. He is real good about keeping it updated. The full interview can be seen here on The Come Up.
